Big news for Riccardo Tisci fans. The Italian designer, who departed from Burberry back in September, has created a dress for Michaela Coel to wear at the London premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Working in partnership with Coel and her mother (who has created a slew of Coel’s red carpet looks), Tisci envisioned a black silk bodysuit for Coel, worn beneath a multi-layered Chantilly lace skirt. The look is anchored by floral lace tights and sandals, all elements created bespoke by Tisci.
“When Michaela approached me to work together, we knew this premiere in London – a city so close to both of us – would be the best moment to bring our conversations to life in a very special way,” says Tisci. “It felt like the perfect time to celebrate Riccardo Tisci, the house that brought me so many opportunities and which led me to where I am today.”
This is the first time Tisci has designed under his own name since 2005, when the designer closed his eponymous line to join Givenchy after his debut catwalk show. Could this be the brand’s grand return?
