Proenza Schouler: Ready-To-Wear SS20

When we think of morning commuters, what springs to mind? It’s the men in suits. They’re on there way to Wall Street or Canary Wharf. They usually have a face like a smacked arse and their grey blazers tend to be polka-dotted with sweat stains. Lovely, right? But what about their female counterparts who are making those same journeys each morning? This season, New York’s fave design duo Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough celebrated the women sitting behind office desks, who as well as getting themselves ready in the morning are likely to have a little one to tend too.

Though the morning rush can be tricky, especially if you’re trying to feed your youngest before dropping them off at nursery, the Proenza woman will always look immaculate. She wears dresses with a ruched finish, or blouses with scooped necklines. She lets the latter hang freely from her slouchy suit pants and pairs them with a boxy blazer with major power shoulders. She finishes the look off with gold Sade hoops, lilac tights and a bag with a bulbous silhouette. Somedays she plays it sensible and wears trainers for her hectic commute on the D-train, others she wears a heal that glides effortlessly around the ankle. There are even days when she can’t decide what shoes to wear so she carries her newly purchased Proenza Birkenstocks all the way to work. Imagine if we could dress every morning commuter in head-to-toe Proenza? Talk about travelling in style.
