Proenza Schouler: Ready-to-wear SS16

John Travolta once sang that he had frills, and they were multiplying. Or something like that, anyway. maybe I misheard, but there are certainly a lot of frills in New York. Some of the biggest, the boldest, and – dare  say – the best(set) come from Proenza Schouler, whose founding fathers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez mined a Spanish vein for their latest collection. Think bobby pom-pom trims, red and black prints, and tons of ruffly stuff. There were also low-heeled stumpy dance shoes, and fishnets like those used by Spanish trawlers to catch their fish of the day. or maybe like the ones worn on the legs of British holidaymakers on the razz in Magaluf. Dead good, this.
