Pringle of Scotland: Ready-to-wear AW17

A quartet of all-black looks opened Pringle of Scotland’s AW17 show. Almost like a funeral procession. But not. Because this was sombre. Think: Scottish Widow, but sexy. She showed off collarbones, a hint of bosom. Fran Stringer said it was about “protection from the elements,” which makes sense for the Scottish Widow. She’s always wandering around the highlands. And there was a lot that would do the job. Cream and stone coloured knits with elongated sleeves so no more gloves, just wrap your hands in all the material. Colour was mostly muted, until a burst of it at the end. Argyle in blue, yellow, red and green appearing from underneath an asymmetric cape. And those florals of the 60s wallpaper type, spliced on a stretch jersey material. See, not a funeral at all. A party. So, cheers. Or, as the Scots say, in their Gaelic language… slàinte!
