Prada: Ready-to-wear SS16

…and then God created Miuccia. The major-domo of Milanese fashion. The originator. The innovator. This season, due to the death of her aunt, Mrs Prada wasn’t present at her own show, instead compered by the label’s design director and Mrs Prada’s right-hand man Fabio Zambernardi. Classics, he said, was the idea, but the result – in classic Prada fashion – was anything but. The story embedded in the clothes, in their masterful mixing, and matching, and mismatching, was compelling and arresting and interesting. But ultimately it boiled down to amazing, covetable clothes – patchwork bags, crunchy transparent knits, boxy caban coats and abbreviated jackets – that throbbed with got-to-have-it urgency.
