Clothing with a motivational spiel. Anything to help us get out of bed in the morning. Prabal Gurung’s AW17 show this evening in New York ended with slogan t-shirts. T-shirts that were, more specifically, about empowering women. It happened when the girls emerged for the finale – led out by Bella Hadid in a t-shirt that read “The Future Is Female”, each followed with their own slogan tee, and own message. All the way to Prabal himself, who wore one that read “This Is What A Feminist Looks Like”. Girl power! The collection proper was also about strong ladies – inspired by Prabal’s muses from both Nepal and America – friends, family or just women he admires from afar. This meant an eclectic selection of Prabal pieces – from extra-chunky outerwear and knitwear to Joan Smalls in a slinky ballgown. Because what lady wants to choose?
