10 Great Things Launching at Dover Street Market in Celebration of Photo London 2019

All I Want to Be, a photobook by Thomas Kluyver

Coachella, Glastonbury or Tomorrowland? Actually, we like to consider ourselves a bit more cultural over here at Ten Towers – or at least this week. That’s why our pick for the festival of the year is less about public acts of sex and flower crowns and more about deep, meaningful conversations and substance-free visual stimulation. Photo London has been around since 2004 as a multi-gallery photography fair, and since its relaunch in 2015, it established its multi-platform presence while extending beyond the art world. In the past few years, Dover Street Market has been celebrating the occasion with a compilation of the best fashion and photo collabs. Signed book editions, zines, tees, merch and jewellery – all highly collectible, highly desirable, and pretty much a great reason to head on over to DSM. As if you didn’t have enough of those already…

This year’s edition of Photo London is opening tonight and will go on until Sunday, May 19th. At the same time, Dover Street Market is launching quite an extensive list of photo-themed goodies, perhaps most interesting mix to date. But to save you some precious time, we curated a list of 10 best things launching today at DSM, in celebration of Photo London.

1. Kiko Kostadinov x Sohrab Hura for Magnum Photos

One of our favourite London-based designers is the pure embodiment of what the DSM and Photo London collaboration is all about – a classic black Kiko Kostadinov hoodie embellished with subtle design details and printed with a captivating image. Sohrab Hura’s political imagery found its way onto a garment and looks quite fitting. Hence why it’s already sold-out online

2. Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike

A pair of trainers that has become iconic even before its launch – such is the power of streetwear staple Cactus Plant Flea Market who injected their crafty, happy-go-lucky vibes into the Air VaporMax 2019 silhouette. You can already find it on the resale market, so make sure to be quick when roaming through the halls of DSM.

3. All I Want to Be, a photobook by Thomas Kluyver

Servin’ glitter, servin’ drama – Tomas de Kluyver is the make-up artist behind some of the most iconic Gucci looks. He’s also the author of the brand new photobook – All I Want to Be. Published by IDEA Books and including work of photographers like Sharna Osborne, Fumiko Imano and Harley Weir, this is the beauty bible of tomorrow.

4. Christopher Nemeth

A name you might not know, but have definitely seen somewhere before– Christopher Nemeth is the late designer whose heritage inspired the likes of Kim Jones, who even worked with his estate on one of his Louis Vuitton collections. While Nemeth’s scribbled prints and organic covers never truly disappeared (the brand has continued to run in Japan since his death), the brand is now finally back to its hometown, courtesy of a permanent Dover Street Market space.

5. SUPER Magazine

A whole new world. A whole new magazine. Creating an alternative conversation about the meeting of photography and fashion, Super Magazine is launching tonight as the large-format poster magazine with actors Maisie Williams and Sonny Suljic as the cover stars. Just for DSM, the team created a special edition cover, starring Mei Yue in some feathered Marc Jacobs. And the best part is – the magazine is totally free.

6. ‘AREA A’ by Adish

Streetwear with s deeper meaning – that’s the thought behind Tel Aviv-based fashion brand Adish who work on creating a conversation about political and societal change through hoodies, trackies and some pretty great polo shirts. Designed and made by a team of Israeli and Palestinian designers, this collection not only looks good but also does good – their new DSM basement space will also feature a zine and a film, all talking about the much-important topic of freedom of movement in Palestine.

7. Brain Dead Eyewear

A global collective creating some of the most popular graphic-inspired streetwear, Braindead have been supplying our shopping lists for a while now. They ain’t stopping anytime soon – just releasing a collection of eyewear, Brain Dead have taken it to the next level. Slightly modified classic shapes, and off-beat colour choices. Want. Need.

8. Rottingdean Bazaar x Paul Smith Photobook

Imagine being so confident in your product and handing it into the hands of some of the most disruptive, satirical creatives in UK right now? That’s exactly what Mister Paul Smith did when he hired Rottingdean Bazaar to create a photobook subverting the idea of his brand. Giving fashion a whole new sense of humour, Luke Brooks and James Theseus Buck are serving you some Laugh-In realness – boxed, printed and bound.

9. Nike x Sacai

Arguably the most anticipated pair of trainers of the whole season are *almost* here. First seen in the Sacai SS19 show, these bad boys have been in our dreams ever since – double laces, double soles, double swoosh. It’s a tall order of fashion fantasy, and we’re hoping to get a pair on our feet by the end of the night.

10. Nicholas Daley Reggae Klub SS19 tees

Music is at the core of everything Nicholas Daley does. A standout from his SS19 collection were the Klub Reggae tees, which are now coming – in a limited edition, of course – to the shelves of Dover Street Market. Yellow, white, black… You can either choose one or just get all of them. Don’t worry, we won’t judge.
