Philophiles, rejoice!
Three years in the works, today Phoebe Philo has officially launched her namesake label.
The lauded designer, who has shaped the wardrobes of women globally – first at Chloé then at Celine, where she was creative director for nine years – has released her debut collection under her own name. Announced back in 2021, the ‘Phoebe Philo’ independent label, with minority backing from LVMH, will sell direct-to-consumer on Philo’s website.
Seasonless, the brand’s first release – dubbed A1 – spans ready-to-wear, jewellery and accessories. Available in limited quantities (you’d best get shopping quick), the collection is jam packed with architectural knits, asymmetric tailoring, military-inspired cargo pants and furry tailored trousers. There’s plenty to marvel at here. From oversized leather bombers and hairily-good voluminous coats, to XXL tote bags and architectural footwear. The collection also features an impressive jewellery range including a glass sphere pendant and a silver necklace made from the word ‘Mum’ interlinked.
The launch feels like a homecoming for Philo, with Daria Werbowy – the designer’s muse throughout her Celine years – appearing in the collection’s accompanying images. Welcome back Phoebe, oh how we’ve missed you.
