Paolo Carzana’s evening slot on Sunday’s installment of London Fashion Week was a lesson in ethereal construction. Dedicated to the late, pioneering producer and songwriter Sophie as well as a close family friend who recently passed, My Heart Is A River For You To Bend drew on earthy tones and draping fabric to generate 17 looks that were romantic and truly enchanting. Silhouettes featured low cut necklines and sheer, floating shirts, adding an understated element of desire and passion. Pearlescent materials pushed mysticism and celestial intrigue.
Paired with cloth-clad headpieces by Nasir Mazhar and dried flower halos, raw edges and glimpses of bare skin gave the offering a rustic and humble feel. Enriched by soundscape master HforSpirit, models slinked down the runway, unfettered fabric floating behind. Speaking on the show, the Sarabande resident said he “built this whole collection alone 4 weeks,” thanking his inspirations for the encouragement he has felt from their spiritual presence.
