Owning a fabulous shirt is way underrated. Because let’s face it – that pair of statement brocade trousers you got last month can only take you so far. A striped shirt is a wardrobe gem that is part of your everyday uniform, all-year-round. Those City boys might just have it right – a good shirt is all you need. And who to turn for a great, unique take on shirting than the duo that’s established themselves as the contemporary experts in the field. Away from the dusty Savile Row and much more in-tune with what the world beyond suits is wearing, Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding founded Palmer // Harding back in 2012. They listened to that good, old piece of advice: “Find something you love and do it the well.” Their niche was “the shirt” and the rest is history. The duo won the 2017 BFC & Vogue Fashion Fund, and is now bringing back the category of clothing which was part of their beginnings.
Launching today at Matches Fashion, it’s the brand new Palmer // Harding menswear collection of three different silhouettes in a total of nine pieces. The sharply cut-and-paste techniques form shapes that are often strictly kept in the womenswear department. Without a doubt, these shirts are crafted for men, yet they carry their distinctive androgynous sensibility. Men’s shirts – possibly the least innovative category of clothing is now looking fun and exciting. City boys beware, we’re out there to get you and your shirts!
