That didn’t take long, did it? Just a couple of months since Oscar de la Renta announced the departure of Peter Coppings, this weekend the New York-institution announced his replacement as Creative Director of the house. And it’s two for the price of one situation – yep, he’ll be replaced by designer duo Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. They co-founded New York-based Monse, and, in a satisfyingly circular motion, have both previously worked at Oscar de la Renta. “We are beyond thrilled to go back to the house where we learned the fundamentals of fashion from Oscar and the business of fashion from Alex,” they said in a statement this weekend. “Having further learned so much this past year with Monse, we will apply all of those lessons to expand the vision that this amazing house has already established.” Alex Bolan, the CEO of the house added, “For many years, Laura and Fernando worked here directing our design teams. Oscar respected their talent, and their work with him brought tremendous critical acclaim and success to the company… we look forward to Laura and Fernando once again bringing their extraordinary design skills to Oscar de la Renta.”
