NAME: Olivier Zahm
MAGAZINES/EMPLOYERS: Purple Fashion Magazine
OFFICIAL JOB TITLE: Editor, photographer, curator, night clubber, anarchist, and lover.
STAR SIGN: Libra, ascendant Leo.
PORN-STAR NAME (FIRST PET’S NAME + MOTHER’S MAIDEN NAME): I hate pornography. I enjoy sex pictures instead.
FIRST JOB: I was an art critic when I was twenty.
WORST JOB: No job!
WHAT ARE YOU WEARING (ON THE DAY YOUR PORTRAIT WAS TAKEN)? Black boots, tight jeans, plaid shirt, denim jacket or leather jacket. I only change with the season and the weather.
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT: I know about contemporary art, fashion, and philosophy. I realised this summer that I know nothing about women (even though I have been reading Jacques Lacan and Freud for twenty-five years).
ARE YOU PART OF THE ZEITGEIST? I’m a sign of the times.
HAVE YOU EVER USED/WOULD YOU EVER USE SEX TO FURTHER YOUR CAREER? Sex is more risky for my career and most of the time that compromises my professional reputation, because in this conservative period sex has to be clearly separated from work. To me sex informs and influences most of my professional interests, from photography to art. Actually if I could use sex to further my success, it would be fun.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE? I like style/beauty/abstraction.
WHAT DO YOU HATE? Simply vulgarity and stupidity but mostly politics.
WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES? WHO DO YOU LOOK UP TO? I’m old enough not care about any influences. I’m just doing what I like. I’m afraid I’m now an influence on younger people.
IF NOT YOU, WHO/WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE? It takes a lifetime to become yourself.
WHAT’S YOUR POISON? What we call in America sex addiction and in France “la drague”. However, I’m getting rid of this, much like I got rid of my past addictions.
ARE YOU A BITCH? I’m quiet nice, charming, and sometimes enraged when people try to use me.
WHAT TURNS YOU ON? Style for a woman and talent for both sexes.
SELL YOURSELF IN 10 WORDS: I don’t sell myself, I give myself.
WHAT’S UP AND COMING? The next issue of Purple Fashion Magazine.
