No21: Menswear AW19

Without a pull-fastening, tech-y fabric or carabiner in sight, this tailored collection, in shops Autumn, spoke of 1990s long-lined minimalism in a palate of camel and grey, navy and black and classic wardrobe archetypes: who’s not going to want that classic three-button cashmere coat? And that navy reefer was something else. But investors, here, should pick up on the knitwear: super-easy and soft crew necks – the grey version, especially. When it veered away from classics the fabrics went kinky. Black ciré trousers and a flasher’s trench; a stone ciré shirt tucked in. Chunky dog-leash chains and lace shirting added to the kink. The series of lace-up neck tees and an anchor motif spoke of a pretty boy sailor on shore leave. Is the sportswear streetwear mix coming to an end?
