NO.21: Ready-to-Wear SS19

Alessandro Dell’Acqua always had a soft spot for cool girls who like to stay up late. His Numero Ventuno collection was an ode to them. There’s always an element of nostalgia in his work – this time the nineties New York of Calvin and Helmut played in the background as his women stalked the catwalk. A simple T-shirt dress was decorated with a cage of fabulous feathers, edgy PVC sheaths came in red liquorice tones and bonded satin was tailored into sporty mini dresses and roomy car coats in vivid shades of green and pink. A sophisticated beige section of the show gave a clue to who styled it – Suzanne Koller, the queen of symphonic sandy tones. Shoe aficionados take note – Dell’Acqua is known for his fabulous footwear. This time there were ropes of crystals snaking around the foot on barely-there sandals. What no swags and bows? Sometimes less is more.
