NICOLE KIDMAN, ISABELLE HUPPERT, AND BELLA HADID GET DOWN TO BUSINESS IN BALENCIAGA’S SPRING ’23 CAMPAIGN
First seen on the trading room floor of the New York Stock Exchange, Balenciaga’s Garde Robe collection just rematerialized in an ironically humdrum campaign for spring 2023. Documented by award-winning photojournalist Joshua Bright – and with Rosie Marks behind the video – Nicole Kidman (Demna‘s new muse), Isabelle Huppert, Han So Hee, Bella Hadid and Khadim Sock look lavish in the centre of a mundane Manhattan office space. Surrounded by somewhat dated day-to-day office paraphernalia such as landline phones, desktop computers, jars of pens, cut glass awards, piles of paper, folders and cardboard boxes, Balenciaga power suiting and key accessories come to the fore – fashioned from wool, silk, gabardine, and artisanal denim. The trainer boasts Patta’s signature detailing and Experimental Jetset’s psychogeographic spin (with depictions of metropolitan maps and directional signage) in the shape of an iconic Converse sneaker. NIKE KITS OUT GRENFELL ATHLETIC FC
Sportswear superpower Nike and community-led Grenfell Athletic FC just dropped a new collaborative kit for the new Sunday League season and its competing men’s and women’s teams. The kit, designed by local kids with big dreams, takes the Nike ‘dragon swoosh’ and joins it with a unique array of drawings, sketches and doodles collected this summer at the North Kensington Community Festival – each completed to a different skill level – that highlight the aspirations of these young children from North Kensington. It’s aptly been called Dream Carriers, as it immortalises the desires of this nation’s youth in high-tech fabric. From dreaming to be the “‘first astronaut singer in the world” to simply hoping to “take care of my mum like she takes care of me”, the shirt underlines how these local kids want to make a difference. Taken during a cross-country road trip in the United States that the artist went on in 2015, the photo story starts in the east and ends in Los Angeles atop a vintage BMW R100 motorbike. EP
LEGO IS TAKING OVER LOUIS VUITTON THIS CHRISTMAS
This Christmas, sitting in Louis Vuitton’s holiday window displays and stores around the world is a new snow-capped collaboration with Lego. Built brick by luxury brick by certified Lego professionals, icy little Christmas trees, LV Damier bricks and detailed replicas of the Arc de Triomphe and Pont Neuf conjure the romance of Paris. Plus, in celebration of creativity and the art of imagination, the occasion for this festive exterior facade collides with the Lego Group’s 90th Anniversary – woo!
What’s more, come January 1, just as the holidays come to a close and the displays are disassembled, the bricks will be repurposed through local partnerships so that school kids can be inspired to build and learn through play. EP
TAG HEUER’S ULTIMATE DRIVER’S WATCH IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER
Tag Heuer’s ultimate driver’s watch just got the golden treatment. In a captivating black and 18K yellow gold, the Carrera Chronograph is reborn, taking inspiration from an iconic racing livery to reinforce the collection’s connection to motorsport. Known as the wrist piece of choice to many of Formula 1’s best drivers and teams for decades, its sophisticated deep black dial, golden gilded subdials and overall sleek design give it the legs to stand out in a sea of bespoke timepieces. First designed in 1963 with the racetrack in mind, the Carrera has embodied many different expressions of itself. In 1970, the first yellow gold automatic models were introduced: the 1158 CHN. Now inverted, the watch is just as attractive as it was in the ’70s, but with a new black alligator strap, a gold pin buckle and a highly legible and utterly uncluttered face. Shop now. EP

BRETT LLOYD’S NEW BOOK IS A LOVE LETTER TO NAPOLI
Need some new coffee table content? Well, the new book by British photographer Brett Lloyd – one of the most quoted contemporary names in photography – is 180 pages and 135 photographs of pure monochromatic mischief. Entitled Napoli Napoli Napoli, it’s a narrative-driven volume rife with romantic vignettes of daily life in Southern Italy, published by Mörel Books and designed by Milan studio, Macs Iotti.
Following Lloyd’s 2014 debut book Scugnizzi, this is his most substantial compilation of photographical work yet. Of course, with his work at major fashion houses and frequently featured in the glossies, he’s been all over the block, but Napoli Napoli Napoli looms. To coincide with the culturally inspired book’s debut, Lloyd has also unveiled a series of specially designed T-shirts to promote local businesses from which 100 percent of the proceeds will go to support the non-profit organisation, Friends of Naples, which bids for the restoration of the city’s historic structures. Sander Lak, founder of Sies Marjan, celebrates his label’s many glorious hues in a new coffee table book called The Colours of Sies Marjan. Published by Rizzoli, the tome is packed with 300 photographs including runway snaps, campaign imagery, collection fittings, as well as the many unusual places Lak sourced colour inspiration – from a wave of orange jerseys in a football stadium to multicoloured wigs in hair shops.
