Since its inception back in 1963, the Pirelli Calendar established itself as one of the biggest yearly fashion moments outside the catwalk schedule. There has been some pretty iconic photographers that captured the images for this piece of fashion memorabilia in the past – Sarah Moon and Peter Lindbergh, Herb Ritts and Nick Knight… The list goes on and on, and includes most names that shaped the visuals of the 20th and 21st century fashion. So, after last year’s Alice In Wonderland extravaganza orchestrated by a Ten Towers favourite Edward Enniful and shot by Tim Walker, 2019 is focusing on women and the ideas of female empowerment. Captured by legendary Scotsman Albert Watson, the calendar is divided into four parts with ballet dancer Misty Copeland, actresses Laetitia Casta and Julia Garner, and model Gigi Hadid taking the main roles of four different women in this cinematic re-imagination of a conventionally static, fashion scenario. If these image and the BTS video is anything to go by when predicting the days to come, 2019 is going to be a year of sexual power and female energy. It was about time!
