Ever since Rihanna – a name that needs no introduction – posted the first Savage X Fenty Vol. 2 teaser on Instagram two weeks ago, we’ve all been on the edge of our seats waiting for it to land on Amazon Prime. Wearing a personalised black dressing gown and fishnet boots, whilst sporting this season’s ‘love-it-or-hate-it’ hair trend – the mullet (which only the likes of Rihanna could pull off) – the global superstar, businesswoman and all-round icon leads us to what can only be Savage X Fenty’s most extravagant show yet. Here is what you can expect from this year’s most anticipated lingerie show.
What makes the Savage X Fenty – and everything else under the Fenty umbrella – so successful is its celebration of inclusivity and diversity. After paving the way with Fenty Beauty’s 2017 foundation launch – which came with 40 different shades, ensuring one for every skin tone – the rest of the fashion industry quickly began to follow suit. This year’s Savage x Fenty cast, however, shows everyone else how it’s really done!
As with last year’s show, the 2020 cast includes a glorious display of different races, ages, sexualities, body shapes, disabilities and more. The line up also sees cameos from the likes of Bella Hadid, Lizzo, Indya Moore, Demi Moore, Normani, Rosalía, Shea Couleé as well as countless others. All we can say is brace yourselves for a lingerie show like no other.
As with anything Rihanna does, the word ‘boundaries’ means nothing to her. The idea that sex sells seems pre-historic in an age of female empowerment and the contemporary challenging of gender stereotypes. But with both the show and the collection, the team at Savage X Fenty have flipped the notion on its head. “Sexuality is your own divine inner power,” explains Rihanna, and by celebrating female sexuality in such an open way, the brand is selling its viewers their own sexuality – and the empowerment it brings – straight back to themselves. So whether you’ll be tuning in your comfiest trackies or a matching lacey lingerie number, get ready for the Savage X Fenty cast (including Rihanna, of course) to give it all they’ve got!
