Back taking over Selfridges’ Corner Shop, Prada envisions a new pop-up space dedicated to the latest additions to its growing Re-Nylon line. Dubbed Prada Reactive, the space is lined with screens which display each mantra of the Re-Nylon project – re-use, re-create, re-search, re-model, and Re-Nylon.
The animated wallpaper is built with a bold, graphic style, with an enlarged checkered floor finishing the look. The green, black and white LED screens compliment the collection, which is constructed using regenerated nylon obtained from recycled plastic. Launched in 2019, the line was built using fishing nets and textile fibre waste.
What’s particularly exciting about the latest Re-Nylon garments are their treatment, which allow the garments to react dynamically to light, heat and water. Prada says the treatment is a reminder of the effects of climate change, including the Prada logo which is printed in a reflective pigment only visible when fabric comes into contact with water. Amongst the edit are down and padded jackets which have a printed pattern only revealed once the temperature drops below 10°C, and select pieces glow in the dark with a neon green triangle pattern once charged with sunlight. Pretty impressive stuff.
The Prada Reactive pop-up is open at Selfridges Corner shop until November 5, 2022.
