All those with a heart condition and severe love of fashion – you better stop reading. As announced a couple of weeks ago, the two worlds of Prada and Adidas are coming together as one. You know, just your casual luxury-meets-sportswear collaboration, except this one is coming directly from the source of democratising fashion over two decades ago. When first released, we didn’t know much about what the outcome would look like, except for including the signature three stripes. But thankfully, Miuccia doesn’t like to keep us waiting. To begin their ongoing partnership (!!!), Prada and Adidas are releasing two products, equally representing both sides of the spectrum.
Both in stark white leather, they pay homage to the 106-year-long heritage of the German sports brand and its classic icons interpreted the Italian way. The Superstar trainer, originally launched in 1969, is kept in its original form, just recontextualised by the black Prada logo and the fact that it’s only made in 700 editions, each pair numbered to confirm authenticity. Just like Miuccia’s best-sellers serve as the base of the seasonal wardrobe, these kicks are your core partners in building the look from bottom up. The second part of the collab is a bowling bag, which has recently become a new icon of Prada’s offering, but has clear sportswear inspirations that are perfectly in-tune with Adidas. Simple ideas and clear messaging – this is the perfect beginning of something great, launching online via both brands and at selected Prada stores on December 4th. Santa can you hear us?
