Maximilian Davis Is Appointed Creative Director of Salvatore Ferragamo

What a nice bit of fashion news to wake up to this sunny Monday morning. After pulling out of this year’s LVMH Prize as a clear front runner, it has been announced that Maximilian Davis has been appointed as the new creative director of Salvatore Ferragamo.

The 26-year-old British-Trinidadian designer founded his namesake label in 2020, and has reached industry acclaim through his refined tailoring and deeply sensual design sensibilities, often inspired by Carnival garb and his Trinidadian heritage. Having spent the last four seasons showing under Fashion East, Davis will begin his new role in Milan on Wednesday, March 16.

“I am deeply honoured to be joining Ferragamo, and grateful for the opportunity to build on the rich and profound heritage of the house,” wrote Davis. “Ferragamo represents a dedication to timeless elegance and sophistication that I find incredibly inspiring. I’m looking forward to articulating my vision, elevated by the codes of Italian craftsmanship, quality and innovation.”

It’s a smart move for Ferragamo, which has been without a creative director since Paul Andrew departed from the heritage brand last spring. “I am delighted to welcome Maximilian at the house of Ferragamo,” said Marco Gobbetti, CEO of Ferragamo. “The clarity of his vision together with the level of execution and his powerful aesthetic make him one of the most brilliant talents of his generation.”

A massive congratulations to Davis!
