It seems to be a good week for film director and fashion houses. First it was Spike Lee working with Coach, and now we’re off to Italy where Ermenegildo Zegna collaborated with Award-winning filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. The director behind Call Me by Your Name and the 2018 remake of Suspiria is working with the heritage Italian menswear brand on their campaign for Spring/ Summer 2019. Capturing a trio of actors in a glammed up version of their day-to-day scenarios, each representing a different side of the Zegna brand. In Spice Girls terms, André Holland is the posh one, rocking some fabulous suiting.William Chan is the sporty one, lounging around in the XXX Zegna Couture line. And then there’s Boyd Holbrook, a combination of the glam and the street, let’s call him the casual spice. With Oscar-worthy cinematography (what else could one expect rom Guadagnino?) and, the campaign gets a film treatment, even in the short half-minute clip. The name – Defining Moments – implies an impact beyond just the clothes. These men serve as icons of contemporary manhood, their clear visions of themselves fulfilled thanks to the impeccably tailored Ermenegildo Zegna.
