The 10 Best Looks From This Year’s Brit Awards

And we’re back! Last night over 5,000 people – including 2,500 key workers – made their way to the O2 Arena for the first time in 14 months. It was the Brit Awards, the most dazzling night in the British music calendar, and despite social distancing making things look a little odd, the in-person event was a sweet taste of normality – and god, it felt so good!

The night belonged to Dua Lipa, who took home the awards for Best British Album and Best British Female. Lipa – who performed a medley of hits from her Future Nostalgia – accepted her gongs sporting a beehive and custom Vivienne Westwood frock, which gave a nod to Amy Winehouse’s Brits red carpet look from 2007. She dedicated her Best Album award to Folajimi Olubunmi-Adewole, the 20-year-old who, last month, tragically passed away after attempting to save a woman who had fallen in the river Thames, and also called Bo-Jo to give NHS workers a pay rise.“It’s very good to clap for [NHS staff], but we need to pay them,” she said.

Mr Harry Styles took a break from filming My Policeman to pick up the Best British Single award for ‘Watermelon Sugar’, wearing a custom Gucci suit (and matching purse!). Alessandro Michele was the talk of the town last night, dressing everyone from Best British Breakthrough winner Arlo Parks – who made a cameo in last year’s GucciFest – to Years and Years’ Olly Alexander, who changed into a custom Harris Reed two-piece for his performance of Pet Shop Boys’ ‘It’s A Sin’ with Sir Elton John.

Elsewhere, Best British Single nominee Raye channeled Marilyn Monroe in a hot-pink Etro gown, Best International Group winners Haim each sported The Row and Rina Sawayama wore a spellbinding Balmain gown pulled from Olivier Rousteing’s debut couture collection for the house. The boys didn’t come to play, either. Pa Salieu sported a smashing Dior suit from the house’s Fall 2021 collection, MNEK stunned in a sky blue Robert Wun number and Headie One – whose performance was creatively directed by Virgil Abloh – wore a Louis Vuitton monogram coat from Abloh’s AW21 collection. We also have to give a shout-out to our current 10 cover star, Griff, who took home the Rising Star award wearing a Simone Rocha deconstructed dress. That’s a whole lotta lewks!
