Back to life, back to fantasy. After a pandemic-induced break, the 10+ boxazine makes a triumphant return. Isn’t she pretty? The big green box is full to the brim with the best fashions to come from this year’s Cruise and couture collections, captured inside a magazine, across a slew of A0 posters, and gracing an array of brand new elements, including postcards and a broadsheet newspaper. It’s a playground for all lovers of fashion; a place of pure joy to explore time and time again.
Gracing the first of two covers is rising actress Amita Suman, who wears Chanel’s Cruise 2021/22 collection – captured by Rob Rusling and styled by Sophia Neophitou. Inside, Suman sits down with Kate Finnigan to chat about her blistering career thus far. For our menswear cover, Valentin Caron sports Berluti’s winter 2021 collection, photographed by Clark Franklyn and styled by Garth Allday Spencer.
10+ Issue 4 is dedicated to a dear member of the 10 family, Lyndell Mansfield, who tragically passed away during the making of the issue. This is Sophia Neophitou’s editor’s letter:
“The 10+ boxazine is back! After Covid swept through our world and changed our lives forever, all the cruise shows (in fact, all shows) ground to a halt and the boxed edition of 10+ took a little pause to rest and reflect. Now, on its return, it’s bigger and better than ever.
What time has taught us is that we have an overwhelming desire to dream and be transported. The return to physical interaction with something luxurious and beautiful has inspired us to create even more ways to express ourselves and communicate, with bespoke content, images and stories that will take you on a unique journey of joy and fantasy.
Now, as well as the magazine element of the box and the giant A0 posters – the kind that a superfan would hang on their bedroom wall as a constant inspiration – we have also added more stand-alone elements to our new vision for 10+. A broadsheet newspaper now hosts our couture story, illustrated with colour, texture and vibrancy by the spectacular Blue Farrier. Her images are accompanied by a brilliant piece from one of our industry’s most respected and talented writers, Sarah Mower, who gives an amazing overview of this season’s return to couture.
There are also postcards that give you the opportunity to share the amazing images of Christian Louboutin by Jack Bridgland with your nearest and dearest. All of this wonder is housed in its own special collector’s box, for you to treasure always.
It has been an amazing journey to bring this issue together. Every step has been reinvigorating and re-inspiring. The beautifully crafted diaries of Angelo Flaccavento at the Valentino couture show in Venice and Dior’s Cruise show in Athens paint pictures with words that are so vivid you can almost hear the birdsong and smell the sea air. Scarlett Conlon, too, takes us on her journey to the Italian island of Ischia to cover the Max Mara show. Her words help you appreciate all the beautiful detail of every moment. The impact of all this combined creativity is a feast for the eyes and mind – a truly transporting moment in every way.
The last and most important element for me, on a personal level, is my final goodbye to my beautiful Lyndie-Pops, aka Lyndell Mansfield, who we lost all too soon at only 49 years old on October 1. We have created a giant poster for my beautiful girl. On it, a few of the people who loved her share their favourite Lyndell moments. It’s a small memento of how loved she is.
Her life has been such a gift to so, so many. She filled mine with so much joy, laughter and love that I will never, ever forget the gift of her friendship. I will treasure her always and realise how lucky I was to have her in my world. Now she will live on in my heart and my memories and will walk beside me, holding my hand and making me roar with laughter always.
I will treasure and cherish everything we did together. We had so many beautiful, hysterical, magical, amazing moments. Our darling girl is such a loss to this world. I will miss her kindness, her force of love, her optimism, her infectious laughter and boundless energy, her massive heart and fierce sense of loyalty. I feel so lucky that we shared so much over our 22 years together. I hope she holds a place for me right next to her in paradise so, when it’s my turn, I can be sat right next to her laughing together for eternity.”
Issue 4 of the 10+ boxazine – BACK TO LIFE – is out on November 29. You can now pre-order it online via 10 Curates.
