As we all stood outside anxious that we wouldn’t get in before the show started, there was total lock out till 7.45pm. Then the entrance opened and the surge began. People throbbing through the doors, scrabbling to get to their seats as the voice announced the show would start in approx 5 mins and it did. Complete with people running like startled rabbits in the head lights to their seats. The set was a circular gold monolith which dominated the centre of the room (reminding me a little of the golden lion in the middle of the circular catwalk at Chanel couture), from which the girls emerged and then disappeared into at the end of each little section.
Okay enough, now for the clothes. Seventies’s roller girl meets Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie in ‘The Runaways’ meets Jodie Foster in ‘Taxi Driver’. Huge oversized hats, high waist satin trousers and of course huge leather corsages adorning said high waists as well as the many swan like necks. The colours were reminiscent of Miami for me, mauves, sugary pinks, peach, and lots of gold shiny-ness everywhere.
Did I covert this as much as last season? Well not really my age group, but I always like his sense of adventure with everything he does and have nothing but admiration for his total conviction, so definitely a winner on that level.
