The Big Apple is set to have one HUGE September. After two seasons of digital showcases, New York Fashion Week is set to return stronger than ever.
With the CFDA and IMG – NYFW’s governing bodies – forming an alliance with the aim of bringing the best talent back to the city, September’s physical shows will play host to the strongest NYFW schedule in recent memory.
Released today, the provisional show schedule will be opened by Collina Strada on September 7, stretching right through till September 12, with the likes of Telfar, Peter Do, Proenza Schouler, Gabriela Hearst, Brandon Maxwell, Rodarte and more set to show.
Also returning is Thom Browne, who has shown in Paris since 2017, as well as Moschino, who hasn’t returned to New York since its 2019 subway show. Closing out proceedings is CFDA’s Chairman Tom Ford, who is taking Marc Jacobs’ spot as the final show of the week.
New York Fashion Week will coincide with the first of two Met Galas set to take place over the next 12 months, which will both focus on American fashion. The first installment, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, celebrates the Costume Institute’s 75th anniversary and will explore “the modern vocabulary of American fashion”.
Taking place Monday, September 13, the event will be co-chaired by Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman and Naomi Osaka.
