The wonderful Tiphaine Chapman has been kind enough to jot down her thoughts on some of the London AW11 shows and allow us to reproduce them here over. First, Mulberry.
In my world, it is difficult to go wrong with giant mushrooms and fake woodland which is what welcomed us at the entrance; the theme was English woodland with a Roald Dahl twist and it didn’t let me down. It was at the same time grown-up, sophisticated and cute, romantic and practical. I loved the colours and the mood, it almost made me forget how much I needed the winter to go away: dark woodland colours highlighted with deep brights!
Loved the long soft 70’s pleated dresses some in gold lame, printed tulle and georgette. Some tiered…so easy and flattering! There were also a couple of the most beautiful emerald green silk dresses, a knee length shirt one and a long tiered one.
The leather jackets were so desirable and beautifully crafted. The boots were so up my street: wooden wedged boots and ankle boots in an amazing selection of colours and textures; I have my eye on the peacock coloured ones.
Amazingly, there were dogs in the audience but then it all made sense when a couple of cute dogs came down the catwalk modelling some coats; we were secretly hoping for a bit of action between them but all were far too well behaved for any misdemeanor! Wish we had bought our two Boxers!!!
Nicola Roberts in large black sunglasses and a coat decorated with mother of pearls buttons seem to enjoy the show and so did Fearne Cotton!!
