For his MSGM men’s show Massimo Giorgetti was inspired by the Queen. Elizabeth II, no less. And whilst he kept in the same vein for his AW17 women’s show – it was a different queen. Little Edie from Grey Gardens. Just like Miss Bouvier Beale the models sashayed down the runway in silk headscarves; modest yet regal. There was something rather futuristic about it though. As if Little Edie had been cryogenically frozen for 1000 years or so and then had been revived in the year 3017. She’s got a cute boot, printed with stars or in a shiny, silver tinsel for some nighttime glamour. It wasn’t all Judy Jetson though, it sort of ping-ponged back and forth between eras. Those floral print silk dresses were a little 40s, the bomber jackets over dresses a nod to the 50s. There was even an 80s denim moment. Sort of remembering the past, whilst looking to the future. A pick n mix of all of the best bits of fashions over the past 100 years or so, all rolled into one fashion forward collection. And one thing that’s for sure is that the future is bright when it comes to Massimo’s MSGM woman.
