MSGM: Menswear SS25

In a captivating fusion of Mediterranean nostalgia and sartorial elegance, the women’s resort 2025 and men’s SS25 MSGM show unfurled like a dreamy maritime voyage. Celebrating the brand’s 15th anniversary, colours dripped and danced like a maritime sunrise through a vibrant array of turquoise, straw yellow and classic navy. Meanwhile a sharp symphony of stripes inspired by beach umbrellas and deck chairs – painted, printed and woven – evoked the essence of sun-drenched archipelagos, sunlit siestas and the tenderness of summer love. In the delicate, dissolving watercolours, the influence of Luke Edward Hall was palpable.

La Vedetta – Massimo Giorgetti’s Ligurian haven – served as a muse for the clothing narrative. Dresses morphed knotted macramé silhouettes. Tie-dye patterns, dolphins, crabs and mermaids frolicked on the fabrics of jumpers and shorts as whimsical stencils capturing the essence of childhood beach toys. Printed linen T-shirts and skirts shimmered with the vibrant hues of lobster red and stellar blue, while colourful zippers traced borders, redefining silhouettes. Many of the looks were paired with fragile origami-like sailor hats, beckoning viewers to don the spirit of the sailor with a wardrobe that speaks of voyages both real and fantastical.

It was more than a collection; it was a vibrant, evocative tribute to the sea and the myriad ways it shapes our lives, encapsulated by the sentiment, “The Sea and I.” As the lights dimmed and the techno beats of the closing sequence pulsed through the venue, the mood shifted into the nocturnal. Garments took on a rigid structure, with black backgrounds and deep, enigmatic stripes guiding us through the night’s encounters. Here, emotions were cast in acid hues, culminating in a collection that was as much about the sea as it was about the human journey.
