Moschino: Ready-to-Wear AW18

On a not so ordinary evening in Milan, we feasted our eyes on an intergalatic Moschino fashion show (after feasting on the invitation). We were seeing through Jeremy Scott’s Moschino Eyes. He knows how to put on a show. Kaia Gerber opened proceedings strutting her stuff, the beginning of a bright hot procession of Jackie Kennedy looks. Pillbox hats and matching lolly coloured twin sets, above the knee skirts, prim-and-proper jackets with all that silver zipper detailing gleaming. Their hair bounced so luscious in those bobs, fierce and frozen as they walked through space ship blue portals. We had been warned of an alien ship landing…

And then they appeared with skin tinted (face included) in Simpsons yellows, Smurf blues and pretty pinks. Were these the aliens? Andy Warhol’s Jackie Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe portraits, poppin’ pop art come to life. Girls carried leather bags printed with Lichtenstein-esque comic illustrations, eyes of women crying in Moschino. We all need a good way to cry. Marilyn Monroe’s ‘Happy Birthday Mr President’ played out over a thudding beat as glinting sequinned gowns slashed zig zagged with silk satin fell luxuriously. This girl was off to a prom, or something like that. Day to night, fabulous women with a fabulous wardrobe of vivaciousness and flounce. Jeremy Scott on full throttle retro.
