Moncler Announce Freeze For Frieze Project

In continuation of our Frieze-based programming, news of a special project from Moncler entitled, suitably, Freeze For Frieze. Which does not, though the name suggests otherwise, have anything to do with the actual act of freezing (we presume the name was chosen due to Moncler’s fine array of cold weather hardy garments), but actually pertains to an initiative from the brand to support the funding of two MA scholarships at the Royal College of Art. Great news. So how are they going to get the cash? Postcards. But not just any postcards, postcards designed by an roster of talents from the world of fashion, art and just plain pals of the brand – J.W.Anderson, Virgil Abloh, Sarah Burton, Neil Barrett, Mary Katrantzou, Roksanda Ilinic, Brandon Maxwell and, quite literally, too many more to list – there’s nearly 400 of them. Each of the postcards will be sold for a flat fee of £60 but here’s the schtick – you won’t know who each postcard is by until you’ve parted with the cash. Think of it as a fabulous lucky dip. “I’m very passionate about the world of art, especially how meaningful it is as a language, a means of communication, encompassing one’s personal views and abilities,” said Remo Ruffini, Chairman and CEO of Moncler. “Art, in my opinion, is a pure expression of creativity able to capture a single moment and transport its entirety into the future. Creativity has always been a key word for Moncler. Working towards this common goal alongside a high profile institution like the Royal College of Art is a great honor for me.”

Moncler Freeze for Frieze will take place from 7 to 9 October 2016 at the new Moncler flagship store at 26 Old Bond Street
