Painterly Perfection: Introducing Miu Miu’s Hand-Painted Accessories

When does fashion become a work of art? That’s exactly the question Miuccia Prada provokes. For Miu Miu SS20 collection, the designer focused on accidental beauty and the dialogue between the intentional and the impromptu, with a pinch of abstract expressionism thrown in. First showcased on the catwalk back in October, accessories and clothes are presented as canvases – quite literally – playfully hand-painted accessories, with flowers and Jackson Pollock-esque splashes.

You’ve probably seen Bella covered in paint at Casa Corbero in Barcelona for the SS20 campaign making the rounds on social media – now, in a series of events in select Miu Miu stores across the globe guests will be able to get their clothes and accessories personally customised by artists. With a choice from a selection of hand-painted motifs, customers are able to collaborate with the painters to customise garments including Miu Miu’s signature bamboo handled bags, T-shirts, ruffled skirts, ballerina flats, bucket hats and trainers. Following Takuya Kamoka’s residency in Tokyo and Camilla Engstrom in New York, Trinity Mitchell will be the artist in residence in the New Bond Street London store tonight, before heading to Paris later this month. Get your hands on a one of a kind piece and release your inner exhibitionist…
