A new fashion alphabet was written at Miu Miu today. And it kicked off with A for Attitude. Yes this Miu Miu girl suffers no fools, she’s outspoken, fearless and I for Independent. She has the G for Guts she will be loyal to her last breath and fight for herself and her fellow F for Friends. Miuccia Prada sent out an S for Strong line up of tweed coats, pastel and patent leather, glossy and oversize, their bulk belted tightly. And all of it topped off with major B for Backcombed Beehives. Because she can. The Miu Miu gal will spend time getting dressed because within the collection was the chance to explore, choose different characters be someone completely different.
And so of course an actress, Elle Fanning opened this show wearing a suede camel car coat and flat boots. Suburban. Young women breaking free of the sixties expectations of becoming a housewife. New stone washed double denim and flat pointy boots added to the 60s / 80s sense and the anti establishment rocker vibe. Devo’s 1977 I can’t get no satisfaction played but honestly we got a lot here. On the list: emerald satin ankle boots all cuffed and spindly; a gold micro handbag; and a silvery metallic cloque cocktail dress. Hell we’re heading out in that.
