Words do indeed matter, as the title of the latest Coach project implies. Directed by fresh Oscar-winner Spike Lee and starring the face of the brand’s menswear side Michael B. Jordan, the short film features the Black Panther star in a classic Californian scenario. A dusty desert, a big motorcycle and a full leather look. Please pardon us as we drool over the hunky actor, all while he sends a positive message into the world. The narrative of the two-minute video fights against the negativity, perhaps reflecting the trolling society we live in. Love, truth and courage – keywords we should all be focusing on more.
“Spike’s art has moved the cultural dial for decades. I’m proud of the powerful messaging of this film and to be working alongside a brand that cares about putting that narrative into the world as much as I do,” Michael tells of the experience. And it truly does come across, as this collaborative project reflects unity in the industry that often forgets about it. Spike Lee directed and co-wrote the film with his children Satchel and Jackson Lee, while Coach worked with stylist Jane How on that sleek leather look we need in our lives. Either with Michael or just on a hanger – we’re fine with both.
