I often tenuously reference the 1987 film, Mannequin, but finally, thank the Lord, I have an actual legitimate reason to. Yes, this film, the latest in Mercedes-Benz’s Fashion Creatives Series (Episode 6, to be exact), actually features not one but several mannequins raised to human life, like better dressed Emmy Heshires. Thus making it something akin to a wet dream for any gay man born in the 1980s. Entitled Midnight in Stuttgart – Mercedes-Benz Original, said mannequins then perform a style of dance which the notes tell me is called Hiplet™. Not being familiar with modern trends in the world of dance I had to give this term a quick Google, to which I am informed it is a combination of hip-hop and ballet first created by Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center. Urban but elegant. Just like me. Currently practicing for my Friday night out. Clear the floor, people.
