Maryam Nassir Zadeh: Ready-to-wear SS22

After a year of food-stained sweats, messy top knots and a serious case of the CBA when putting any effort into our wardrobe, Maryam Nassir Zadeh is the perfect antidote to your lockdown fashion slump. Always a joyous addition to the NYFW calendar, the designer staged her first show in over 18 months inside her store on the Lower East Side, spilling out onto the sidewalk, where passersby whoop whooped as models walked past.

Leading the charge was former 10 cover star Paloma Elsesser, who sported an easy-breezy pair of three-quarter lengths, a black bikini top and a peach checkered overshirt. See Zadeh’s fashions aren’t overtly sensual. She designs for the days you need a pick me up; clothes that make you feel comfortable as you are.

Clean lines, easy shapes and nineties inflicted pairings came worn by a diverse group of friends to the house, which included Andre Walker and the designer’s husband Uday Kak. The designer penned in her show notes that the collection was rooted in authenticity. Zadeh doesn’t chase a particular type of customer, her vision is fluid. These clothes could dress a city.
