And so to Season 5 of Mr West’s Yeezy fashion opus which took place in New York today, reasonably on time and in a reasonably close location, which thus made it something near to revolutionary. No shuttle buses, no collapsing models, no snapped heels etc etc. And it was actually pretty good. A bit more sporty than last season – the three stripe adidas trackpants running throughout, worn here with matching zip-up track tops. They had Calabasas written on them, so could we say that this was inspired by the LA locale that the Kardashes call home? Which, when I Google “Kardashian Calabasas” (journalism!) I don’t get much apart from a story about Kourtney looking somber whilst out for a walk with ex Scott Disick which this wasn’t really like at all. But think of the reference more as a kind of modern valley girl-slash-boy. In a quick bit of transatlantic messaging, our fabulous fashion assistant Dominic said that it’s giving him, “college kids on their day off” and he is “fully dead” for that fur coat and headscarf look. Expect to see him sashaying about the streets of Soho in similar in the near future. Apart from that it was Yeezy business as usual, as it were – slouchy sweats and chunky outerwear, worn with wide-leg camo trousers or high-waisted denims. Some skin-tight numbers made especially for the female members of the Kardashian Klan. Was this Yeezy all grown up? Maybe. Either way, there was plenty here for the fan, and non fan, alike.
