For SS23, Brunello Cucinelli gave modern minimalism a new name. With understated elegance, refined skill and fluid sophistication to the max, the heritage brand’s latest menswear collection was a leisurely assortment of everyday and formalwear; think preppy-meets-country club with an injection of time-honed luxury.
Akin to the Cucinelli aesthetic, a refined yet relaxed style emerged with precious, now-and-forever garments to effortlessly enrich everyday life. Elsewhere from fine Italian textiles, sport shorts and cargos, structured jeans, logo-embossed jumpers and double-zip puffer gilets were born, offering us a taste of laid-back elegance. There were also super-soft knits crafted from fresh and natural fibres using mélange or délavé effects.
Earthy hues once again enriched the collection while vivid accents were particularly great; khaki, tan, navy and white harmoniously combined with a myriad of blues, demure crimsons and unexpected flashes of salmon or lemon yellow.
The protagonist this season was the suit, which – as a sartorial interpreter of business elegance as well as daily recreation – proposed an amalgamation of disjoined trousers and blazers to reflect the contemporary versatility of the ensemble. Boasting exquisite manual tailoring, there were also lustrous tuxedos perfect for your next black-tie outing.
