If you’re prone to FOMO, look away now… Earlier this week, Max Mara whisked the fashion pack off to the idyllic island of Ischia, Italy, for its Resort 22 show. Over a three day trip, Ian Griffiths treated his intimate cohort of guests on speedboat rides, lavish lunches and even a swimming excursion off neighbouring island Procida, before rounding things off with a scenic catwalk show at the Mezzatore Hotel.
The collection itself was inspired by Truman Capote’s 1950 essay on the island, Local Color. The American novelist was known for his affiliation with the Swans; a group of glamorous, well-heeled women, known for their luxurious lifestyles. One of which was the socialite Marella Agnelli, who is the aunty of Ginevra Elkann, the director behind the collection’s official film.
Taking us back to those Italian shores, Elkann splices paradisal shots of the catwalk with clips from an Ischia excursion, with the Max Mara models venturing across the island wearing the relaxed silhouettes of the collection. It’s safe to say we know where we’re booking our first holiday once this hellish pandemic is over.
Directed by Ginevra Elkann.
