Max Mara: Pre-Fall 2016

Forget Charlie’s Angels, there’s a new trio of sassy ladies in town, a triumvirate of empowered New York women past and present – Dorothy Parker, Siouxsie Sue and Lydia Lunch. Aka the ladies inspiring Max Mara’s Pre-Fall 2016 collection. Max’s Angels? Or perhaps Ian’s Angels (he’s the creative director of Max Mara, after all) – though that has less of a ring. Not that any of these ladies would like to be referred to under a man’s name. And, they probably had a bit more of an life-weary stance than Lucy, Cameron and Drew. “I’m completely optimistic – I know the end is coming,” Lunch once said, as I am informed by my good friend Mr Press Release. So, how have the punk-y trio seeped into the collection? Well, in Max Mara tradition there are long, throw-on coats, a re-work of their seminal 101801 cut, this time combined with fishnet tops, biker jackets, studded belts and pencil skirts. All displayed in the setting of the iconic St Regis hotel. “Take care of the luxuries and the necessities will take care of themselves,” Dorothy Parker once said. We’re putting our orders in now.
