Three cheers for our beloved boozers! Now we’re legally allowed to go about indoor pubbing in all its boozy glory, what better way to swan back into your local than wearing some pub-tastic clobber?
Cue Martine Rose, fashion’s biggest fan of the pub paraphernalia, who today has unleashed a beermat capsule collection. Fans of the London-based designer – who today was announced as the designer of England’s Euro 2020 supporter shirt – will be well aware that this ain’t the first time Rose has looked to larger for inspo. The brand’s synonymous beermat styles first appeared in 2013 and have gone on to become cult pieces that are so rare, in fact, that you’ll have more chance buying a pint in London for under £4 than stumbling upon one of those original jackets. Rose then revisited the pub garb for her 10th-anniversary, AW18 collection – where belts, hoodies and more jackets came encased in Rose’s own spin-off beermats – featuring parodied logos of Carling, John Smiths and Newcastle Brown Ale.
What’s on the cards for this new collection, then? Well, for the first time, Rose has made an all-over coaster print, seen across shirts, shorts and form-fitting tops. Rose’s “Expert Perfection” slogan also makes a return, this time stamped over tees and trackies. It’s a cracking collection, so good, in fact, that we’ll take one of everything, another pint, and whilst your at the bar, fancy getting us a packet of Scampi Fries, too?
