Marques’Almeida: Ready-To-Wear SS19

Hands up if you want to be an M’A girl. Yep don’t we all, now please form an orderly queue. This season Marques’ Almeida’s girl was punky biker chick that you’d definitely think twice before messing with. She’s born to catch a ride on the back of a horse or a Harley, and not scared of showing it. Hair was slicked back, eyes rimmed in kohl, necks were lined with spikey metallic chokers and all styled with boots that were made for partying.

For Marques’Almeida’s second season showing in Paris, the show was held at Lycée Saint-Louis de Gonzague a prestigious private school in the 16th arrondissement and modelled by their always growing European community of girls. A country and western twang ran throughout via the double pocketed button-down shirts, cowboy boots, snakeskin, paint-by-numbers of galloping horse prints and, of course, the brands signature denim pieces. Evening wear came in the form of sheeny velours and dresses in black, fuchsia pink and metallic tones.

Couple and design duo Marta Marques and Paolo Almeida continued to explore their Portuguese roots via their London-base, with the inclusion of the traditional Portuguese brocade pattern (complete with peacocks) in a tile-evoking blue and white. It’s ready to wear and we want it all.
