MARINA ABRAMOVIC: 512 HOURS

Marina Abramovic has got a long summer ahead of her. She’s spending 64 days on display at the London’s Serpentine Galleries and you cordially invited to join her. Exhibition guests are required to leave their baggage at the door (literally – no phones allowed) and participate in this performance. This is the first of Abramovic’s performance since The Artist Is Present at New York’s MOMA where she sat opposite individual exhibition visitors seven hours a day for two months. As with this performance, Abramovic will have no props except a few common objects and will not be taking toilet or lunch breaks during the exhibition opening hours. Golly. And yes, it might be a little more tame than setting herself on fire, lying naked on ice and standing with a drawn arrow pointed at her heart (all of which she has previously done) but the performance nonetheless looks exciting.

Marina Abramovic: 512, June 15-August 25, 2014; Serpentine Galleries, London W2
