Marie-Laure Cérède Is Chanel’s New Jewellery Creation Studio Lead

Chanel has named Marie-Laure Cérède as the new lead of its Jewellery Creation Studio. Stepping into the role from October, Cérède will be in charge of all precious and high jewellery to come out of the house, reporting to Frédéric Grangié, president of Chanel watches and fine jewellery throughout the tenure.

Cérède – who is from Libreville, Gabon, France, and graduated from ESCP Europe business school – succeeds Patrice Leguéreau who held the position for 15 years before his passing in late 2024, and she will be based in the French house’s 18 Place Vendôme building, working in tandem with the teams in both Paris and Geneva. She told @wwd that her upbringing saw her “developing a sensitivity to nature, colours and cultures of the world from childhood that have shaped a lifelong admiration of decorative arts and crafts.”

She continues: “I am honoured and moved to join Chanel, a maison of singular cultural force and exceptional discipline that continues to question convention, redefine femininity and express modernity through form and spirit,” Cérède said. “I am looking forward to meeting the teams and writing the new chapter together.”

Cérède arrives from Cartier where she first served as creative communication and product manager before joining Harry Winston in 2002, charged with leading the artistic direction of jewellery and watchmaking for 14 years. She then returned to Cartier, mostly recently as creative director for watches and jewellery.
