Because sometimes fantasy frocks, such as these, need another trot around the runway. Wouldn’t it be a shame if they just sat there in a cupboard somewhere just waiting to be adopted by a very very rich lady who just happens to have model proportions and a 24-inch waist? Think of their tiny screams. So last night, in the city of Tokyo, Maria Grazia Chiuri took her debut Haute Couture collection for the house of Dior, first shown in Paris earlier this year, and gave it a victory lap. Re-creating the original labyrinth-like set, Maria showed the collection once again (“Haute Couture fit for a woodland nymph” we said in our original write-up), this time with the addition of some entirely new creations, inspired by the country of Japan, where Dior have just opened a new Ginza store, and its festival Hanami that celebrates the arrival of the cherry blossom. Which meant a Dior lady in full bloom, a lady who once again posed the question: would we rather have a house or a dress? Perhaps one of the more “voluminous” styles could count for both?
