Knitting is no longer confined to festive jumpers and your nan – no, no, trainers are now getting the treatment too, but we doubt this latest pair from Marcelo Burlon and Reebok look like anything said nan may have knocked you up at Christmas. Allow us to present the Zoku Runner, one of Reebok’s latest shapes and their first ever foray into the world of knitted trainers and a collaboration with the mighty talented designer Marcelo Burlon. For the colourways, Marcelo himself chose the colours he deemed most representative of his brand, which, in this case, were black and white.
“Reebok is an authentic brand and authenticity is something I’m always looking after, “he told 10 of the collaboration. “We’ve worked on a sneaker that was not released yet when we were working on the collaboration and to be a part of a new chapter is very thrilling”. To accompany the release, Reebok have created a short, but undeniably punchy, video of the new trainer, with what we can only describe as a sort of Hans-Zimmer-esque soundtrack with some airhorns thrown in for good measure at the end. Nothing says ‘buy me’ like a blast of air horn. Watch above.
Marcelo Burlon x Reebok White Trainer launches 5th October.
