Marc Jacobs: Ready-To-Wear AW19

Capes, Dresses and OMFG! NYFW has officially ended and if all shows were like Marc Jacobs then we would wish it went on for a lot longer. Let’s not stand for ceremony, the experience was almost religious. We don’t want to sound like our favourite aunt Celine Dion by crying at shows but my god, we almost did! A good collection does not need a big set or a fun ‘thing’ to give it excitement, and Marc Jacobs is probably one of the few designers left in New York that can command that excitement and deliver on his ability as a designer.

The set was pitch black, not even a bodega flower but it did have a full string band playing the most wonderful music. Out came the first look- a full leopard print cape, then came the wool, possibly cashmere, over-sized coat with matching scarf, followed by more incredible outerwear after another. Dresses, gowns or just wow creations this whole collection had it all. The taffeta gown, the ruffle short black and white gown, the bright yellow off the shoulder stunner to the regal looking blue and black off the shoulder silk gown – it kept coming. An incredible cast of girls from Karlie Kloss, Gwendoline Christie and Liu Wen, to the most gorgeous of them all, who closed the show – Christy Turlington Burns. This legend looked like a goddess, against the dark back drop with nothing but a live string quartet playing classical music, this was one of those moments you will look back on and be so happy you got to witness. What a perfect way to end NYFW than with the best of New York. ‬
