Charlotte Rampling and Marc Jacobs Serve Drama in Givenchy’s SS20 Campaign

Fashion loves a good dynamic duo. Rick Owens and Michelle Lamy. Inez and Vinoodh. Naomi and Kate. If they come in a pair, we’re all over it. After breaking the internet with Givenchy’s #ARIVENCHY campaign earlier this year, Clare Waight Keller had to come back with not one, but two campaign megastars. Acting legend Charlotte Rampling and everyone’s favourite New Yorker Marc Jacobs give us poise, beauty and strength in a set of “Givenchy sitting”-style portraits lensed by Craig McDean, under the creative direction of Waight Keller of course.

If you’ve kept an eye on the brand’s Instagram over the past few days, you would’ve witnessed a set of short clips that showed Rampling repeatedly slapping Jacobs. No this wasn’t a brand new telenovela, it’s the campaign’s accompanying video, which sees the actress give the designer a lesson or two in serving drama-rama. Shot in a black-and-white split screen, the two interchange between wearing Givenchy men’s and womenswear offerings. Expect thorough teaching from Rampling, a spot-on impression of his co-star from Jacobs and a selection of Givenchy footwear used as telephones. Have you ever seen an improv class so fabulous?
