FROM THE VAULT (WINTER 2010)
LUCIEN PAGES: FOUNDER, LUCIEN PAGÈS PR & COMMUNICATION
“When I was a child, I wanted to work in fashion and live in Paris. I am coming from the south of France, so I assume that I am living my dream.” Lucky bastard, living the life of a Disney princess, minus the evil stepmothers. The least he could do is give us a glimpse into this dream life to redeem himself, which he has. So without further adue…
ON PR
“I have studied fashion. After I have worked in art direction with Marc Ascoli as assistant during almost six years. I met Adam Kimmel and he asked me to do his PR. At this time I didn’t have a proper experience in this job, he just trust me.”
ON HIGHS
“The Adam Kimmel Casino presentation inspired by George Condo. It was an amazing moment, something special that you live only once in your life.”
ON LOWS
“At the beginning of my PR career, at an Azzedine Alaïa party, someone introduce me to an important fashion icon and I had to speak to her about a fashion designer to make her come to see the collection at the showroom. I hate this kind of embarrassing situation when you have to tell to someone very quickly, ‘You should come, his work is great,’ etc. I didn’t know what to say and I looked completely stupid… Normally, I prefer to create the conditions that give to the people the excitement to discover new talents by themselves.”
ON JET-SETTING
“I am not a jet-setter, some of my clients are for me… Every day I am going to the office quite early because I am working with Japan, I am eating at the office with my assistants, we leave quite late because we are working with New York and after I am having diner with friends next to the office.”
ON BEING A PIONEER
“Not at all. I am just trying to find my own way to promote talents. I need to feel comfortable with their work, so I usually choose designers I love and respect… That is not very original, but I am pretty strict on this policy for the moment.”
ON BEING A TOUGH COOKIE:
“Not really. I like to push people to do their best and learn something from the time they spend with me as I learnt myself from others… ”
AND MOTTOS:
“Do your job seriously, but don’t take yourself seriously.”
