Luca Magliano – the eponymous Italian designer and the recipient of the Karl Lagerfeld Special Jury award at this year’s LVMH Prize – has just been announced as the next guest designer at Pitti Uomo. Scheduled to run between January 9-12 2024 at the Fortezza de Basso in Florence, the showcase will have particular significance for Magliano, whose offbeat menswear label debuted its first runway at the city’s Dogana venue during Pitti Uomo in 2018. Following in the footsteps of industry sweethearts such as Martine Rose, Grace Wales Bonner and Thebe Magugu, Magliano will fill the position for the international menswear trade show’s 105th edition.
Speaking on the announcement, the Bologna-based talent noted “Pitti is the place where our project manifested itself for the first time five years ago, with that enormous mountain of red roses, which — thinking about it now — gives me a great sense of dizziness and tenderness like looking in the mirror after time and rediscovering the important things, even if everything has happened in the meantime…This return to home, to people you love and respect, fills me with joy. It’s the ideal opportunity to imagine ourselves in the future, more Magliano than ever.”
