Virgil Abloh might be taking a break from his public appearances, but that doesn’t mean the Louis Vuitton menswear universe is standing still. Making sure the hype never simmers down, his design team at the French Maison are working hard on new interpretations of Virgil’s bestsellers. That’s where the super special-edition LV hi-top trainers come in. The sleek, classic design has become part of the streetwear rolodex since its first presentation as part of the SS19 Louis Vuitton men’s show. And for this holiday season, it’s coming back in nine very special editions, each dedicated and only available in one global fashion mecca. Accompanying the classic monogram details and a slick black leather base, the limited-edition LV trainer comes with colourful laces and a matching tag.
A neon orange is a nod to Virgil’s own brand Off-White and will only be available in Chicago, bright blue for NYC, hot pink in Milan and baby blue at the Paris stores. For us Londoners, we can hope to get some fine sunshine as they assigned our market to the yellow pair, while a forest green is going to Dubai. A deep purple will be available in Tokyo, turquoise in Shanghai and rusty red in Seoul. With each being composed of 20 pieces on the sole and 106 pieces crafting the upper with a “LVM” logo on the tongue, all nine pairs are launching in their designated locations on December 4th, London’s including Vuitton’s New Bond Street flagship, Harrods or Selfridges. Without advance orders available, some heavy queueing is inevitable – so make sure bring along a thermos flask filled with something strong and… See you there!
